Update on Christmas Eve...
So DH and I took off to the valley to take the kids their Christmas. I texted the 17 year-old grandson and told him when I would arrive and for him to be there so I could give him his Christmas money. When we got there, my daughter and the kids were there waiting. I went inside with the kids while DH and daughter carried all the Christmas morning and the stocking gifts to the back of the house. When she and DH were finished, in they came and I passed out the gifts that I had gotten everyone for opening on Christmas Eve...They all loved their gifts and even my daughter loved her jade necklace and much to my surprise was a little civil. We stayed for an hour and then I could tell she was ready for us to leave so she could go to her friends.
I have to say that while she hasn't apologized, she had a very different attitude toward us and even though things aren't the same, I think she knows that I am not longer going to be her door mat. My grandson said that he wanted to come home with us but we told him tomorrow we would meet his mom half way and they could come up and spend a few days...It wasn't the best Christmas Eve but at least she wasn't going all crazy like she has been in the last few months. I think when the holiday**** she gets so stressed because she never has enough money and even though she knows that I will buy the kids what they need, she still gets so upset and she takes it out on me because she knows that I am her mother and I am safe...however, I might be safe but there are consequences and she is learning that I am no longer going to just let her treat me anyway. I am still waiting for an apology and probably will never hear it but I think she realizes my guard is up and will stay up...
We decided to go to a Chinese restaurant instead of IHOP and we ate some good old seafood and the little waitress told us they were also going to be open tomorrow in case we wanted to come back.
We bought us an apple TV which I already told you guys about and DH and I went shopping together and we bought a few clothing items for each other. I picked out a chenille robe and four flannel gowns and he picked out some new sweats and shirts....we both got new house shoes and that was all we wanted...Oh I forgot, he bought me all of the Die Hard movies from iTunes...all five for 25 dollars and we are about to watch Die Hard number one....
I am looking forward to our next installments of Christmas stories and I have a really good one to share but I will let someone else begin the next ones.
Eileen, I cannot wait to read your story.
Ladies, Merry Christmas Eve and Merry Christmas....Have you ladies seen the moon tonight?
